I&#8217;ve seen several videos using acetone and dry ice to cool stuff down, but instead of acetone, I was wondering if alcohol would work too. I only had larger amounts of ethanol, so I tried that instead.<\/p>\n<p>Dipping a rose into dry-ice (-60\u00b0C min) cooled ethanol and crushing it<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/COCP5XHHj74?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Waited a bit long, but as it&#8217;s not as cold as liquid nitrogen, I wanted to make sure it&#8217;ll work.<\/p>\n<p>Liquid nitrogen is about -200\u00b0C, while dry ice (CO2) not quite -80\u00b0C.<br \/>\nBut dry ice is widely available and to some degree safer, too.<\/p>\n<p>Fog from pouring ethanol over dry ice<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oXVQOIUmUZ8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Dry ice &#8220;boiling&#8221; in warm ethanol (room temperature)<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/m1CX2BAyUVk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Things to try: With actual alcohol I could try making &#8220;dragon&#8217;s breath&#8221; whipped cream. Sadly, it would not be safe for kids this way, but easier to achieve than with liquid nitrogen (lacking a source and all).<\/p>\n<p><\/p><h4>de<\/h4><p><br \/>\nIch hatte ein wenig Trockeneis \u00fcbrig, nachdem ich mit Kindern &#8220;dampfende Cocktails&#8221; und andere Dinge zu meinem Geburtstag in der Werkstatt zusammen gebraut habe.<\/p>\n<p>Viele Videos bei Youtube nutzen Trockeneis und Aceton um Sachen wie mit Fl\u00fcssigstickstoff zu k\u00fchlen. Statt Aceton w\u00fcrde ich aber lieber ungiftigeren Alkohol verwenden, und habe es mit Ethanol ausprobiert (hatte ich noch da).<\/p>\n<p>Rose in mit Trockeneis herunter gek\u00fchltes Ethanol tauchen (-60\u00b0C min), und Zerschlagen<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/COCP5XHHj74?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nIch habe etwas l\u00e4nger gewartet, aber da es nicht ganz so kalt wie fl\u00fcssiger Stickstoff ist, wollte ich auf Nummer Sicher gehen.<\/p>\n<p>Fl\u00fcssiger Stickstoff ist ungef\u00e4hr -200\u00b0C kalt, Trockeneis (CO2) fast -80\u00b0.
